Plainapply

Terms of service

Last updated: October 21, 2026

The agreement

These terms are an agreement between you and FairSwap LLC (“we”, “us”), which operates Plainapply. By using Plainapply you agree to them and to our privacy policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.

What Plainapply does, and doesn't

  • Plainapply finds jobs that fit your confirmed experience, writes tailored resumes and cover letters from facts you've confirmed, tracks your applications, and fills application forms for you to review.
  • It never submits an application for you. You review every application and click Submit yourself.
  • Job listings come from public job boards. We can't promise a listing is accurate, complete or still open.

Resumes and letters written with AI

  • Plainapply writes tailored resumes and cover letters with AI (Anthropic's Claude), using only the facts you've confirmed, and checks every line against those facts.
  • You review and approve everything before you use it. Nothing reaches an employer unless you send it.
  • You're responsible for what you submit. The facts you confirm must be true. We check the writing against your facts, but we can't check the facts themselves, and AI-written text can contain mistakes even after our checks.
  • We don't guarantee interviews, offers or any other result.
  • What you put in and what Plainapply makes from it are yours. Our AI provider doesn't use it to train its models.

Your account

  • You must be 18 or older, and an account is for one person. Don't share it.
  • Keep your password private. You're responsible for what happens under your account; tell us at hello@getplainapply.com if you think someone else has used it.
  • New sign-ups are closed for now; these terms apply when they open.

Acceptable use

Please don't:

  • enter facts you know are false, or upload someone else's resume or details without their permission;
  • use Plainapply for anyone other than yourself, or to misrepresent anyone's experience;
  • use bots, scripts or bulk tools on the service, scrape or copy it, or reverse engineer it;
  • try to get around plan limits or security, or reach other users' data;
  • upload malware, overload the service, or interfere with how it runs;
  • resell the service or share your account;
  • use it in a way that breaks the law or the rules of the job sites you apply through.

Your content

Your resumes, facts, answers and everything Plainapply makes from them are yours. You give us permission to store and process them, including through the providers listed in our privacy policy, only to provide the service to you.

Plans and prices

Prices are in US dollars, and what you see is what you pay: no setup fees and no hidden fees. There are no free trials or introductory prices.

  • Free: $0, no card needed. Up to 3 tailored resumes a month, each for a different job; tailoring the same job again that month doesn't use another. The count resets on the 1st.
  • Pro: $12 a week or $39 a month. Up to 5 tailored resumes and 5 cover letters a day.
  • Daily and fair-use limits: on every plan, up to 30 on-demand fit checks a day. A fair-use limit also applies if one account's AI usage goes above $15 in a month; it resets on the 1st.
  • Done-for-you: $399, a one-time payment, not a subscription, delivered by a person and starting with a setup session. Refunds: Full refund within 7 days of purchase if your setup session hasn't started. Once setup has begun, contact us and we'll refund any part of the service not yet delivered.

Automatic renewal and cancelling Pro

Pro renews automatically at the same price every week ($12) or every month ($39), whichever you chose, until you cancel. Cancel before your next renewal date and you won't be charged again. No minimum term.

Cancel online any time from Billing: one button, then confirm on Stripe's page. You keep Pro until the end of the period you've paid for, then move to Free, and nothing is deleted. You can also email hello@getplainapply.com from your account email and we'll cancel it for you.

  • Before you pay, Stripe's checkout page shows these renewal terms next to the Pay button, and you tick a box to agree to them. After you pay, Stripe emails you a receipt with these terms and how to cancel.
  • Switching: weekly to monthly starts right away, with the unused part of your week credited against the first month. Monthly to weekly starts when the month you've paid for ends. You see the exact amount before you confirm.
  • If a payment fails: we email you a link to update your card, and you keep Pro for 3 days while you do. The payment is retried for up to 7 days. If it still doesn't go through, the subscription ends, your account moves to Free, and the unpaid charge is written off. Nothing is deleted.
  • Price changes: if we raise Pro's price, we email you at least 30 days before, with how to cancel. The new price applies only from your first renewal after that notice, so you can cancel before paying it.

Ending or suspending an account

  • You can stop using Plainapply at any time: cancel Pro as above, then ask us to delete your account (see the privacy policy).
  • We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, doesn't pay, is used for fraud or abuse, or when the law requires it. We'll tell you first where we reasonably can.
  • If we close a paid account for a reason other than a breach of these terms, we refund the unused part of the current period.
  • When an account is closed, its data is deleted as the privacy policy describes.

No warranties

Plainapply is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we make no warranties beyond those in these terms, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don't promise the service will be uninterrupted or error-free. This doesn't take away rights you have under consumer law that can't be waived.

Limits on liability

To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or for any employer's decision about your application. Our total liability for any claim about Plainapply is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or $100. Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud or gross negligence, or anything else the law doesn't allow us to limit.

Disputes

  • If something goes wrong, email us at hello@getplainapply.com first and give us 30 days to put it right.
  • These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois. Disputes are decided by the state courts in DuPage County, Illinois, or by the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois where a federal court has jurisdiction. You can always use small-claims court instead.
  • There's no arbitration clause and no class-action waiver in these terms.

Changes to these terms

We may change or stop features. If we change these terms in a way that matters to you, we'll update the date at the top and email account holders before the change takes effect (at least 30 days before, for a price increase).

General

  • These terms and the privacy policy are the whole agreement between you and us about Plainapply.
  • If part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies. Not enforcing a term right away doesn't mean we give it up.
  • You can't transfer your account or these terms. We may transfer them only together with the Plainapply business, and your rights under them stay the same.
  • We aren't responsible for delays or outages caused by events outside our reasonable control.
