Why I built it
I'm Devin Anderson. In November 2025 I was laid off after almost six years in tech.
I built the first version of Plainapply for my own job search: a short list of jobs that actually fit, and resumes built only from what I'd really done. Then I set it up for someone in my family who works in a completely different field. Seeing how useful it was for them is when I decided to build it for everyone.
If you're looking for work after a layoff, I hope it helps you too.

How it works
Confirm your real facts
Upload your old resumes. Plainapply pulls out the facts (titles, dates, what you did) and you confirm each one. Nothing is used until you do.
Get a daily feed of fewer, better-fit jobs
Each morning, a short list (you choose how long) of jobs that pass your filters, each with a fit score and the reasons it fits. Staffing agencies, duplicates and stale postings are left out.
Get a tailored, honest resume. The extension fills the form; you submit.
Every line of the resume cites facts you confirmed, and checks block anything that says more. On Greenhouse, Lever and Ashby, the browser extension fills in the application and stops there. You review it and click Submit yourself.
The rules it follows
It never invents facts.
Every resume line and cover-letter paragraph is built from facts you confirmed.
It never submits for you.
The extension fills the form. You read it and press Submit.
Gaps are shown, never hidden.
If a job asks for something your facts don't show, you see it, and it stays off your resume.
The price you see is the price you pay.
No setup fees, no hidden fees. Cancel online any time.

Questions
Does it apply for me?
No. The extension fills in the application form, then stops. You review everything and click Submit yourself.
Will it make things up to get me noticed?
No. Every line cites a fact you confirmed, and automatic checks block any line that claims more than its facts.
What if I don't meet a requirement?
It's listed on the job page as not in your confirmed facts yet. It's never hidden, and never stretched on your resume. If you do have that experience, add it as a fact and tailor again.
Which application sites does the extension work on?
Greenhouse, Lever and Ashby. On other sites you can still download your resume and apply as usual.
How do I cancel?
Online from Billing: one button, then confirm on Stripe's page. You keep Pro until the end of the week or month you paid for, then move to Free. Nothing is deleted.
